Give it up for another round of SuperHero Wednesday!

This week we’re presenting a woman who warms our Pechuga hearts on a daily basis. Joining the SuperHero club this week is Katrine Blauenfeldt! We’ve really been looking forward to tell you guys about this buzz-cut-rocking SuperHeroine, and reveal what she answered to our five SuperHero questions. So here it goes!

If you haven't checked out Katrine Blauenfeldt on Instagram yet, then do yourselves a favour and do it right after reading this. What you'll experience on her feed is a tsunami of vibes that will make you realize how simple and honest life can be portrayed. Katrine keeps it real. She catches the genuine essence of life by telling us about its ups and downs, love, lust, challenges, frustrations, excitement and perks. We love how she provides her followers with a heart warming reality check on a daily basis, by showing us herself, just the way she is.

We think that Katrine is a SuperHero because she dares to show the world her entire spectrum, from vulnerability to strength. She's a SuperHero because she does, feels, says and pursues whatever completes her. She puts everything out there, and it's a relief to observe how she sheds light on the hidden facets of our daily lives. Katrine speaks about what is hidden in the corners of our conversations. The things we don't dare to talk about, and maybe not even think about. Examples? Sex dreams. Life struggles. Vibrators... Go see for yourself! Brace yourselves for a wave of heart warming body positivism and relieving honesty when visiting Katrine's Instagram. Enjoy!

Here's what Katrine answered when we asked her our five SuperHero questions:

How do you define a SuperHero? / Hvordan definerer du en superhelt?

For me, a superhero is someone who stands up for people who can’t stand up for themselves. A superhero is someone who takes risks and who keeps fighting for what they believe in, even when they face major obstacles.

/

Which people inspire you? / Hvilke mennesker inspirerer dig?

Susan B. Anthony was f***ing badass. She worked hard to abolish slavery in America, and she played a very important role in the women’s suffrage movement in the second half of the 19th century. Today, it’s relatively easy to be a feminist, and most people agree that men and women are equal, but in the 19th century it was a really difficult path to choose, but no matter how many problems she faced, she didn’t give up.
Christopher Hitchens. He gave me the vocabulary to express why I think religion is poisonous. I don’t agree with everything he’s said, but his relentless pursuit of knowledge was/is inspiring. He was never afraid of voicing his opinions, even though they often were controversial. He taught me that you can’t make everybody love you, and you’re not supposed to.

What makes your heart sparkle in your daily life? / Hvad får dit hjerte til at gnistre dagligt?

Reading makes me unbelievably happy. It’s endlessly fascinating to me how authors can create new worlds and complex characters that make me question my own beliefs and convictions. I thoroughly enjoy intellectual challenges, and I firmly believe that literature makes me more empathetic, because I get presented with dilemmas, problems, and storylines that I’ve never encountered before, and that forces me to think in new ways, and to feel things that I’ve never felt before.

/

At læse gør mig ubeskriveligt glad.

If the sky is the limit (which it is), what would your ultimate vision and dream be?

I’d love to see sexism and racism disappear completely. Unfortunately, I don’t think that’s possible, because it’s natural for humans to be afraid of things they don’t understand, and because of that fear certain groups of people will always encounter some sort of discrimination based on their sex, gender, the colour of their skin or something just as arbitrary. But through education we can get closer to the eradication of sexism and racism. In an ideal world, every single person would go to school for at least ten years.

/

Who would you nominate for SuperHero Wednesday and why?

I would nominate Katrine Gisiger for Superhero Wednesday. Her slogan or catchphrase is ‘perfectly imperfect’. She’s the founder of Livsstilshuset in Copenhagen where she helps people to achieve a healthier relationship to food. Her Instagram is full of bodypositivity and humour, and I think that humour is a very useful tool to get other people to listen to your message. She rocks!

She rocks!

Lastly, we want to applaud and deeply thank Katrine for making our world a little less superficial and for contributing with a much needed load of body positivism. We admire your bravery, honesty and authenticity. The world needs more people like you <3

If you want to read more, we recommend that you read Katrine's contribution to the #MeToo debate. Here Katrine bites back towards the 'NotAllMen' hashtag, and we couldn't agree with her more!

Now go enjoy the rest of your Hump Day!
