SuperHero Wednesday : Emma Watson
We are starting out with a woman that we have managed to fall completely in love with, and we hope that by the end of this blog post, you will fall in love with her too (if you haven’t already).
This week’s Super Heroine is *drum roll*: Emma Watson
We have had a hard time dusting up one bad thing about Emma Watson, and we do not intend on searching for any, because what she is doing is somewhat amazing and out of this world.
We don’t really know where to start and where to end with this woman, so we’ll just try to give you a broad, though precise, overview of her as a our Super Heroine.
She rocks her title as UN Women Ambassador
Emma is a feminist and a UN Women ambassador. She acts as her own and every woman’s front character when speaking up for women’s rights and gender equality, and she especially advocates for young women’s rights to education and equal opportunities. As a UN Women ambassador she has been a big personality in the campaign, HeForShe. HeForShe calls for men to advocate for gender equality, and we LOVE this campaign, especially because it includes men in the fight for equal rights and opportunities instead of excluding them to be passive observers of a battle only fought by women. The campaign underlines that not only women should fight for themselves, but that men should fight just as hard.
She showed the world her pechugas
Emma Watson has a beautiful soul in which feminism flourishes. In March 2017 she went (almost) topless for a Vanity Fair shoot with Tom Ford and were criticized widely for it. The criticized photo is the one in this blog post, and as you can see, we observe parts of her pretty pretty Pechugas (Pechuga means breast in Spanish btw). The argument for the criticism was that Emma Watson should have betrayed her feminist ideals by posing on a revealing photo for a magazine (we do NOT agree, we think that everyone should let their pechugas out whenever and wherever they want). Her answer to the criticism was priceless and it makes us love her even more:
“It just always reveals to me how many misconceptions and what a misunderstanding there is of what feminism is. Feminism is about giving women choice. Feminism is not a stick with which to beat other women with. It’s about freedom, it’s about liberation, it’s about equality. I really don’t know what my tits have to do with it. It’s very confusing”
Over the years she has taken the world by storm and made us and the rest of the world listen. She teaches us about feminism in a heartfelt, fair and honest way, and she has been rewarded for her capabilities of doing so worldwide. You could also say that we are giving her a Pechuga Award, along with the honor of being our first personality on SuperHero Wednesday!
She helped Harry from the very beginning.....
One last bonus reason for our infatuation with Emma Watson is naturally that if Harry Potter hadn’t had Hermione, he would’ve never made it through the first book!
That was it for our first SuperHero Wednesday! We enjoy telling you about our sources of inspiration, and we hope to see you guys back here next Wednesday.
